Clayton County honors fallen veterans

Posted: Updated:

On the eve of Independence Day, Clayton County held a naming ceremony for a bridge to honor those who've defended our nation's freedom.

Veterans and their families were invited guests to attend Wednesday's ceremony at Rex Village.

The special dedication honors the memory of Clayton County veterans killed in the line of duty.

Families who've lost love ones to war were part of the sign unveiling that will mark the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Commission Chairman Jeff Turner said there was no better time to dedicate the bridge in salute of those who've defended that freedom that right than the Fourth of July.
