ARLINGTON, Texas -

Arlington police said an officer shot and killed a man who was firing into a crowd early Thursday morning.

The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. outside the Star Saigon Bar and Grill.

An armed security guard flagged down a patrol officer and asked for help with a fight that involved about 20 people.

The officer saw a man pull out a handgun and fire in the direction of others, so he shot the gunman.

The suspect died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

No one else was hurt.

The officer was placed on administrative leave, which is routine during the investigation of officer-involved shootings.
