Many North Texans will end their celebrations on the Fourth of July with cookouts and fireworks. But to get the day started there were parades in several cities.
The largest parade in the area rolled through Arlington. There was lots of enthusiasm and patriotic spirit for the 46th annual Independence Day event.
"It's awesome. We come every year. This is probably our fifth year and we live here in Arlington and we think this parade rocks," said Leigh Ann Davis.
"And you know, I'm a Vietnam vet so I'm just enjoying what we sacrificed for," added Isiah Scott.
In Dallas, families flocked to Fair Park for festivities before fireworks.
"It brings everybody together and people on Fourth of July they get to see their first fireworks. I think that's a beautiful thing for everybody," said Alejandro Guyton.
Fourth fans in Fort Worth waited at the Trinity River Park for the evening's fireworks show. There was plenty to do like floating in the river, watching Jet Ski shows, enjoying bands and more.
