Tens of thousands of people crowded around the Cotton Bowl for the largest fireworks show in Dallas.
People had high expectations this year. "I saw the Addison fireworks last night. It was pretty cool but I think this one will be better," said Cindy Gentry.
A wristband was necessary for entry into the Cotton Bowl for better seating and a better vantage point for the fireworks.
Only 10,000 seats were available this year compared to the 30,000 last year because of renovations.
Most had to find the best spot outside the park. "We came early, looked for the shade underneath a tree," said Andy Mitas.
Most people enjoyed being next to the fountain which offered a cooling spot but also water dancing shows.
Dallas police and two security companies offered extra protection for the crowd.
All in all, the finale was big, beautiful and successful.
