People who flocked to Fair Park for the fireworks show may have noticed the show was missing its usual luster.
A few problems led to a late start of the show and a lot of fireworks never even made it to the sky.
An electrical short prevented many of the shells from firing.
"We're used to seeing the fireworks a lot higher in the air and more of a variety," said event goer Roma Lewis. She lives next to the park and never misses a show. "There were like gaps in the time where the fireworks were going up. The kids enjoyed it but as adults we saw the difference."
The annual fireworks show is sponsored by and paid for with private money by the Friends of Fair Park.
In a statement the group says it: "Regret(s) that last night's show was not up to Fair Park Fourth's usual standards due to technical difficulties caused by equipment malfunctions."
"It was 16 minutes it just that all of it wasn't there," said Rocco Vitale with Pyrotecnico, the company who put on the fireworks show.
He says the trouble was a short in a cable that prevented many of the shells from firing. "What we planned was marvelous and it wasn't what we put together," he said.
Pyrotecnico put on 650 fireworks shows this 4th of July week. "Not everybody gets them all right. We're the biggest fireworks company in the country. If a fireworks company or entertainment company say we get every show right, they lied," said Vitale.
