Dallas has permanently closed the Continental Avenue Bridge
The closure is a first step in a makeover of the historic
bridge, which carried traffic for 83 years to and from West Dallas.
The bridge is getting at $12 million transformation into a pedestrian
and cyclist space. Planners say it will be a place for people to gather and
enjoy the view of downtown and the Trinity River.
Features include landscaping, seating and fountains.
The project will take about a year to complete.
