Thousands come out for Metro Detroit Youth Day on Belle Isle

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

On Wednesday, 33,000 kids from southeast Michigan and Windsor packed Belle Isle for a day of encouragement, fun and guidance.

That's what Metro Detroit Youth Day is all about.

"Our main mission is to inspire youth to do the most good," said Ed Deeb, founder of the event, now in its 31st year. "We want them to go school, finish high school, graduate from college, become leaders in the community and come back and make Michigan grow again."

Kids took part in a variety of activities including basketball, boxing, tennis and golf.
