Arizona man allegedly shot by wife, is in critical

Posted: Updated:

PARKS, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a 73-year-old northern Arizona man remains hospitalized in critical condition after allegedly being shot by his 29-year-old wife.

Coconino County Sheriff's officials say the man was shot in the chest at close range while arguing with his spouse after the two spent Sunday afternoon drinking at bars near their home in Parks.

The man left to sleep in his vehicle parked outside their home, but returned Sunday night and the arguing resumed.

Sheriff's deputies arrived to find the man wounded and say he was shot with a .22-caliber handgun.

Investigators are trying to determine who was holding the weapon at the time of the shooting and no arrests have been made in the case.

Authorities said Tuesday that they are withholding the names of the husband and wife.
