Mobile spay and neuter clinic hits North Texas streets

Posted: Updated:

North Texas' first mobile spay and neuter clinic hit the streets on Wednesday.

The Spay Neuter Network debuted its $250,000 Hope Mobile that includes two surgery tables, custom surgery equipment and 40 built-in kennels.

The clinic-on-wheels offers free and low-cost services to under served areas of North Texas.

"The real purpose of the vehicle is to be able to go into areas ... areas where there's not any animal health care for people," said Bonnie Hill of the Hope Clinic.

The Hope Clinic said 46 animals have already been signed up for spay and neuter services.

Organizers expect the mobile to handle about 5,000 surgeries in its first year.
