Funeral held for girl found dead, wrapped in tarp

Friends and family gathered to say their final farewells to a young girl found dead and wrapped in a tarp in Saginaw.

Funeral services for Alanna Keely Gallagher were held on Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church in the Fort Worth suburb of Richland Hills. Her burial was at Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

The Rev. Phillip Heinz said Alanna loved the Lord at a young age, but the service was difficult to perform.

"This one really is so painful because of the nature of her death," said Rev. Heinz.

But Rev. Heinz said the service featured "bouncy" hymns and upbeat songs because that's what Alanna liked.

Meanwhile, police are still searching for clues to the 6-year-old girl's final moments, how she died and who wrapped her in a tarp at a residential corner in Saginaw.

Earlier this week authorities set up road blocks near where her body was found. They stopped drivers to ask questions and look inside their vehicles. The hope was to catch someone or something they missed last week.

The girl's biological father told FOX 4 the family wants to know who did it and wants them brought to justice.

"I know the odds are high it's a family member in this sort of situation, anyone that knows our family knows better," Miles McDaniel said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release a cause of death.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
