Gold Coast doorman honored for saving woman from attacker

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

City Council honored a Gold Coast doorman on Friday, who saved a woman from being assaulted during his overnight shift at the 30 West Oak Street condominium building last month.

Cornell Wrightington saw a the woman duck into an alley near the condo building to take a short cut and saw a suspicious man follow her. He noticed that something didn't seem right and feared for her safety.

Wrightington ran into the alley and found the man trying to assault the woman. The attacked fled after the doorman confronted him.

Alderman Edward M. Burke (14th) and Alderman Brendan Reilly (42nd) led the event on Friday.
