PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Sen. John McCain is praising outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for her integrity and commitment to the nation's security.

Rep. Paul Gosar isn't being so kind. He slammed the former Arizona governor who resigned Friday to head the University of California.

Gosar issued a statement saying Napolitano's "inaction and incompetence on border security will continue to plague our nation for years to come."

McCain says that while he and Napolitano had their share of disagreements, she served the nation with honor in 1 of the toughest and most thankless jobs in Washington.

He says the people of Arizona can be very proud of her service.

McCain and Gosar are both Republicans. Napolitano is a Democrat.
