PHOENIX -

Phoenix Police are looking for a man who beat a homeless man and left him on the brink of death.

Thursday evening, officers responded to an AM/PM at 27th Ave and McDowell regarding an assault. They arrived to find a victim, believed to be in his 70s, beaten at a nearby bus stop.

He was transported to a hospital in extremely critical condition.

Police viewed surveillance video from the AM/PM. They believe the suspect was in the store prior to the assault.

They say the suspect walked up to the victim, shouted a profanity at him, and punched him in the side of the head. The suspect fled the scene.

A motive for the attack is unclear. The victim hasn't been identified.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years old, 5'11", 165 to 185 lbs., with tattoos on the backs of both arms.
