Chicago's Most Wanted: Pedro Garcia

Posted: Updated:

We first publicized the case of Pedro Garcia nearly three years ago, but leads did not pan out and he remains on the run.

The FBI says he remains a danger to children.

Garcia was charged in Cook County with predatory criminal sexual assault, and a warrant for his arrest was issued in February 2010. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl who was related to him and who lived in the same house he did. The FBI says the victim's mother walked in as an attack on her daughter was occurring. It says Garcia fled when confronted by the mother.

Both the young victim and her mother identified Garcia as the attacker.

Garcia has not been seen since. Chicago Police developed leads indicating he may have fled to Michigan. Garcia's sister lived in Pullman, Michigan at the time.

Police requested help from the FBI because it became an interstate case. In April 2010 a federal warrant was issued charging Garcia with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

There have been no recent leads or developments in the case. But the FBI agent handling the case believes there is good reason to suspect Garcia is still in the Midwest, either in Michigan or in the southwest suburbs, where he also has family and friends. He may also be in or around Chicago, where his last known address was on the 1600 block of North Drake Avenue. Agents hope a Fox 32 News viewer or web user may have seen Garcia or knows of his whereabouts and provides a tip.

Here is the FBI's description of Pedro Garcia:

-hispanic male

-52 years old

-5' 5''

-about 200 pounds

-medium complexion

-dark hair

-dark eyes

Pedro Garcia is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him you're asked to call police.
