Tripp Halstead's new home

Posted: Updated:
JEFFERSON, Ga. -

It was a very good day for Tripp Halstead and his parents on Saturday as the family toured their newly renovated home.

A local non-profit spearheaded the effort for the little boy that was critically injured in a freak accident at his Winder daycare last year.

It was a joyous homecoming for the Halsteads and their son Tripp with plenty of tears and laughter.

His parents showed Tripp his new room that was decked out with images of Lightning McQueen from the movie Cars.

Hundreds of supporters were at the big reveal. It was a generous gift, labor of love for all who worked to make this home handicap accessible for the boy. The home is now equipped with a stair-lift as well as modification to the bathroom shower among other things. Every change was made with Tripp in mind.

It was an outpouring of love and support for the little boy who was critically injured when he was struck in the head by a huge tree limb at his Winder daycare last October.

The "Sunshine on a Ranney Day Halstead Home Reveal" was made possible by the Roswell-based nonprofit "Sunshine on a Ranney Day."

When Tripp left the hospital earlier this year, he went home to his grandparent's home in Jefferson while his new home was remodeled.

His family says the new home is more than they could have imagined and will allow their son to recover and grow up as a normal child with everyday activities.

A local business donated a pool complete with custom ramps and benches for Tripp to continue his water therapy at home.
