Dallas North Tollway ramp to LBJ closed for construction

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

People who use the Dallas North Tollway and Lyndon B Johnson Freeway to get to work may need to rethink their routes. The ramp from the northbound tollway to eastbound freeway is closed for construction.

The closure could last for five weeks. Drivers will have to exit at Forest Lane and take a right to go north on Preston Road to the freeway.

The construction is part of the LBJ Express project, which will expand 17 miles of roadway. It will include six new express toll lanes on LBJ and four on Interstate 35.

Those behind the project say it is meant to accomidate growth for the next 30 years, but drivers have to deal with the construction delays first.

Also, traffic on FM 740 in Rockwall will be down to one lane each way Monday morning.

Union Pacific Railroad will be doing track repairs near the road. It only affects FM 740 between Interstate 30 and Highway 205 north of Yellow Jacket Lane and south of Lakedale Drive.

It should be open again by Wednesday.
