Is today's job market still a 'man's world?'

Posted: Updated:

The more things change, the more they really stay the same? That might still be the case. The age-old bias of companies preferring to hire men over women might still be going strong.

Case in point, one blogger with a first name more common to women than men-- ‘Kim' -- took the extra step to post ‘Mr.' before his first name to make sure he's not being passed over because of his name's implied gender.

This came, Kim O'Grady said, after four months of rejections in applying to jobs in engineering, sales and other fields. He said there were "plenty of opportunities around."

"I was an experienced guy in an experienced guy's world, this wouldn't be hard," he wrote.

Shortly after adding "Mr." to his resume, O'Grady got an interview and got a job.

Is sexism alive and well today? Is it still very much a "man's world?" Log on to the FOX 5 Atlanta Facebook page to let us know what you think as part of July 16's HOT TOPIC question!
