Pelican Bay wife allegedly cut throat of husband before burying him

Posted: Updated:

A Pelican Bay wife cut out the throat of her husband before burying him in their front lawn, according to a search warrant in the case.

Neola Robinson told investigators she found a kitchen paring knife and cut Pleasant ‘Shorty' Robinson's hand during a fight in May 2010. She then went to bed and when she woke up the next morning, she said Shorty was dead.

But the man Neola was dating told investigators a different story.

He told authorities Neola had told him she waited for Shorty to go to bed. When Shorty fell asleep, she cut out his throat and he bled out on the bed.

"That's premeditated cold blood, I just...he deserved so much better than that," said Crystal Robinson, Ervin "Shorty" Robinson's daughter.

Neola led investigators to the front yard grave after Saturday's questioning and she was arrested that same day.

"There's not a moment that I can close my eyes especially now with everything going on that I don't imagine how she killed him," said Robinson.

Neighbors like Carol Ann Wheless said their suspicions can be put to rest but it's still makes them uneasy.

"People had thought she done it," said Carolann Wheless. "Every day this woman was outside, just 'hey how are you?' just a neighborly thing and she was always polite back I never, never would have thought."

The affidavit says back in 2010, when an officer asked about the freshly dug spot in the yard, Neola Robinson said she buried a dog there. The conclusion was the area of dirt was not large enough to bury a human. It just so happens that's exactly the spot where they found Shorty's body this week.
