Firefighters Battled Intense Heat During Diner Blaze

Posted: Updated:

The heat made a tough job even more difficult in Bucks County on Friday morning.

SkyFOX flew over the scene in Bensalem right after firefighters battled flames that ultimately gutted the popular Nifty Fifty's diner.

Firefighters waited in line to get their blood pressure checked due to the intense heat.

The diner caught fire at 6:45 this morning. It was already 83 degrees. Because of the humidity, it felt like 93.

The battalion chief says when the fire was out the firefighters were physically exhausted but not injured.

There were about 20 customers and 10 employees inside when it started. They all made it out safely.

There's no word yet on what started the fire.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley has more details in this video report.
