5 people injured in Brooklyn shooting

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police are searching for the gunman who shot five people in front of a home in Brooklyn Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, one man in a group of four ran over and opened fire, hitting three men and two women around 2:15 p.m. near Hope Ball field on Knickerbocker Avenue and Menahan Street in Bushwick.

45-year-old Ronald Pizzaro was shot in his stomach, his wife, Melody Amill, was shot in the knee and Pizzaro's son Ronaldo Jr., was shot in the leg.

Pizarro's Wanda Espinoza, 45, was shot in her stomach and another relative, 62-year-old Manuel Rivera, was shot in his ankle.

The NY Post says the 18-year-old daughter of Pizzaro was allegedly harassed by a group of young men while she was working at a nearby McDonald’s restaurant. When the teen refused their advances, one of the men tossed a milk shake in her face.

Pizzaro found out about the incident and filed a police report, leading to the group retaliating on Saturday.

All of the victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital where they are expected to recover from their injuries.

Police say their investigation is ongoing as they continue to look for the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

Making New York City more energy efficient

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
