Charges dropped against dad accused of drunken driving, abandoning baby

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A Dallas dad who was arrested after police said he plowed through several parked cars and ran off with his baby still in the back seat was no-billed on Monday.

Both the DWI and child abandonment charges against Michael Thomas Ryan were dropped.

Ryan was arrested on July 21. He had been in an accident on Goliad Avenue in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood of Dallas.

The police report states he hit at least four parked cars and then drove off. His damaged 2011 Lexus SUV was found on Palo Pinto Avenue.

Officers found Ryan's infant child inside the vehicle, but not him. They caught up with him a few blocks away and took him into custody, the report states.

Attorney George Milner blamed Ryan's behavior on a seizure. He said both the blood test and portable breath test came back negative for alcohol.
