WASHINGTON (AP) - The father of Trayvon Martin will be on Capitol Hill on Wednesday for a hearing addressing the challenges faced by African-American boys and men.

Tracy Martin will give opening remarks at the inaugural hearing of the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys. He's also scheduled to meet privately with caucus members before the hearing.

D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and Illinois Congressman Danny Davis are the co-chairs of the newly formed caucus. Both are Democrats.

On Monday, Martin was in South Florida for the kickoff of the National Action Network's Civil Rights Revival and Mini-Conference, where The Rev. Al Sharpton spoke of the slain Florida teen's legacy.

"The name of Trayvon Martin will not be remembered as a victim, it'll be remembered as a victor that changed the criminal justice system in the United States," he said. Sharpton also continued his call for federal civil-rights charges against Sanford neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, acquitted earlier this month in Trayvon Martin's slaying.

Tuesday's hearing will also feature remarks by David Johns, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans; Georgetown University sociology professor Michael Eric Dyson; and Kweisi Mfume, a former congressman and NAACP president.

Meanwhile, a group of people demanding changes to Florida's "stand-your-ground" law is walking from Jacksonville to Sanford.

Protesters from other states will join the marchers, who are upset over Zimmerman's acquittal. The group is also expected to ask for the resignation of State Attorney Angela Corey, a special prosecutor in the case. The marchers are expected to reach Sanford on Sunday.
