Stretch of I-696 WB reopened after vehicles catch fire

OAK PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

A stretch of westbound I-696 in Oakland County has reopened after two vehicles caught fire at Coolidge during the Tuesday evening rush.

Michigan State Police said a car being towed somehow ignited. The flames then spread to the tow truck.

Viewer photos sent to Fox 2 show thick, black smoke coming from a tunnel in Oak Park. An MDOT camera also showed a very smokey scene.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.
