Dallas man gets two-plus years for pointing laser at police chopper

Posted: Updated:

A man who pointed a laser at a Dallas police helicopter earlier this year was sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison on Thursday.

Kenneth Santodomingo, 22, admitted to police he had pointed a laser at the chopper because he wanted to see how far it could go.

Santodomingo pointed the laser at least four times at the chopper in the early hours of Jan. 28, when the helicopter was searching for a burglary suspect.

The pilot was forced to change directions because he couldn't see the ground or his instruments.

Police later arrested Santodomingo at his Lake June Road home.
