I-30 HOV lanes to close for two years between Dallas, Arlington

Posted: Updated:

The drive between Dallas and Arlington gets a lot more stressful beginning Friday morning.

The HOV lanes along Interstate 30 between Dallas and Arlington will close for two years to make changes to the lanes.

The 18-mile long project from Fielder Road to Sylvan Avenue includes building four HOV lanes, two in each direction, plus on and off ramps.

When the lanes reopen, they will be so-called ‘managed lanes' where single drivers can pay a toll to use the lanes. Drivers will be able to use the lanes 24 hours a day, not just during rush hours like now.

The $63 million project is scheduled to be complete in 2015.
