Hair weave thieves pepper spray Dallas store worker

Posted: Updated:

Another in a series of hair weave thefts hit a Dallas store this week.

The unusual crime is costing the owners thousands of dollars. Police aren't saying if this incident is connected to others, but the crime has been a probably for beauty shop owners in the area.

Surveillance cameras caught five suspects on camera at the Max Beauty Supply store on Westmoreland Road around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

A worker at the store said the five people lingered for a while in the aisles before striking.

The worker confronted the thieves in the parking lot as they piled into a car. The worker tried to take the keys from the thieves so they couldn't drive away, but they pepper sprayed her.

"I never thought it was gonna hurt that much but it just...burns... you feel like your face is on fire," the worker said.
