Metro-North regular service on Hudson Line

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The MTA is providing regular AM peak Metro-North train service on the Hudson Line Monday.

The agency says minimal scattered delays are still possible as crews still work on damaged track from the derailment of a CSX freight train near the Spuyten-Duyvil station in the Bronx on July 18.

Metro-North crews made significant progress in rebuilding 1,500 feet of damaged track over the weekend. Most of the major work is done with the remaining track work, testing and cleanup underway. Metro-North expects to have the second track back in service following Monday's AM peak service which will provide full operating capacity on the Hudson Line for the first time since the derailment.

As crews continued to work on the track over the weekend, Metro-North operated on a substitute train/bus schedule on the Hudson Line to allow crews to carry on uninterrupted at the derailment site near Spuyten-Duyvil station.

Many Hudson Line customers used the Harlem Line for points of travel north and south. Hudson Line tickets are being honored on the Harlem Line and most Metro-North Harlem Line stations provide free weekend parking.

Passengers who must use the Hudson Line, train service is operating between Poughkeepsie station and Yonkers station where shuttle buses are taking customers to the Woodlawn subway station in the Bronx for the No. 4 subway service to 161st-Yankee Stadium and Manhattan. MTA NYC Transit is cross-honoring Metro-North tickets.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
