EULESS, Texas -

Friends and family of three Euless teenagers killed in a crash in New Mexico gathered Wednesday to remember them.

Three services were held to honor their memories, including an evening prayer service at Martin United Methodist Church.

"We also gather to celebrate our faith," Reverend Jerry Chism said, "and to remember those among us who we love, who are gone."

Hundreds of students flooded the Euless Junior High gymnasium before noon for a vigil in honor of the youngest victim, 14-year-old Lolo Uhatafe.

Lolo died after the SUV he was in rolled on Highway 550 north of Albuquerque. His stepbrother, 19-year-old Polo Manukainiu, and family friend, 18-year-old Gaius "Keio" Vaenuku were also killed. His father, Salesi Uhatafe, Sr. and brother, Salesi Uhatafe, Jr. survived the crash.

The group was heading back to Texas after picking up Keio and the Salesi Jr. from the University of Utah.

State police said alcohol was not a factor in the wreck, but the driver appeared to be the only person wearing a seat belt. Fatigue may have been a factor. Polo tweeted before the trip, "22 hour drive back to Texas on no sleep. Oh my."

Lolo's classmates said he had a personality that was "bigger than life."

"He was like a brother to me. I'm sad to see him go, but I'm really glad he's in a better place," one friend said.

They described him as an "amazing athlete." He was following in the footsteps of his family members.

Polo was a two-time all-district defensive end for Euless Trinity High School and redshirted in 2012 as a defensive lineman for Texas A&M. Keio and Salesi played for the University of Utah.
