Police respond to gunfire at Novi hotel, discover man's body

Police responding to a reports of a gunfire inside an Oakland County hotel have discovered the body of a man.

Officers in Novi cordoned off the Extended Stay America in the area of 8 Mile Road and Haggerty Roads on Thursday morning and officers dressed in tactical gear responded.

Police say they responded to the report about 4:30 a.m. and later Thursday morning found the body of the 38-year-old Florida man with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The hotel was cordoned off for several hours as officers were at the scene.

Guests were unable to leave until after 9 a.m. once the scene was cleared.
