The teenager convicted of robbing and raping a Pizza Hut delivery driver was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
It took jurors less than an hour to find 18-year-old Ferrious Cannon guilty on Wednesday. He showed no emotion when the verdict was read or during the punishment phase of his trial on Thursday morning.
One friend testified he backed out before the attack and the other said he ran home when Cannon started pistol-whipping the woman.
Cannon raped the woman at gunpoint, stole her wallet and took off, prosecutors said.
The 31-year-old victim broke down as she told jurors about being rescued.
"I felt like I had just been rescued from hell. I was so scared," she said.
Her father said she is getting stronger each day.
"She'll move on. Just right now she's afraid, but she'll move on. And, as long as I'm here I'm going to always try to protect my daughter," he said.
Cannon's defense attorney called the verdict and punishment fair.
He could have received 99 years in prison, but instead he will be eligible for parole in 12 years.
