MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A wounded veteran who constantly inspires others with his quest to live a normal life despite his injuries enjoyed a special evening on Sunday as actor Gary Sinise played the Pantages Theater for a benefit.

Cpl. Mark Litynski was on his second tour in Afghanistan when he stepped on an improvised explosive device and lost both of his legs and his left forearm. His recovery is ongoing, but Sinise hopped on stage to help make it a little easier.

Without his limbs, the New Hope native has had to make a lot of adjustments to living in his apartment.

"I still find ways to do everything I want to do, but it takes quite a bit longer and that can be frustrating," he told FOX 9 News.

This fall, Litynski and his wife will break ground on a specially-designed home.

Almost two years ago, Sinise and Litynski met while the wounded warrior was rehabbing at Walter Reed Medical Center.

"Mark -- obviously, missing three limbs -- has some very special needs," Sinise told FOX 9 News.

So, Sinise decided to help get those needs met through the Gary Sinise Foundation and its partners. Building for America's Bravest is dedicated to building homes for the more than 60 triple and quadruple amputees wounded in battle.

"When you speak to Gary, you know he's totally genuine," Litynski told FOX 9. "He just wants to help us out."

Sinise has been involved with veterans' causes since the 1970s, and he and the Lt. Dan Band have played hundreds of shows to benefit the troops.
