Flagstaff suspect linked to two sex assaults

Posted: Updated:

Flagstaff Police say a man who sexually assaulted a woman in July is the same person who sexually assaulted another victim in January.

They compared DNA from the July 21 case with the January 18 case, and it was a match. The DNA was also entered into a statewide and national database, but as of yet, the profile has not had a match with any other cases.

In both cases, the women were walking home from the downtown bar district when they were approached by the suspect, a Native American male in his mid-20s.

The Flagstaff Police Department has placed extra officers in the downtown area late at night, and have plans to notify incoming NAU students of the recent incidents. They also recommend that single females ask for rides home when leaving businesses late at night, or walk with others.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

TIPLINE: Flagstaff Police Department (928) 774-1414 or Silent Witness at (928) 774-6111
