Douglas County stabbing suspect appears in court

Posted: Updated:
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. -

A Douglas County woman charged with killing the father of a county sheriff's deputy was back in court on Thursday.

Sahara Fakhir is charged with killer neighbor, local mechanic Jerry Wheeler last month.

In her last court appearance, Fakhir said that the only one she answered to was Allah.

Fakhir was much quieter on Thursday, saying nothing as authorities presented evidence against her.

A sheriff's deputy said that he believes footprints found in Wheeler's house belong to Fakhir. Authorities also say a knife found in the Fakhir's home underneath a mattress was the one used to stab wheeler.

The investigator said authorities also found a note card stuffed in a Koran in Fakhir's room that criticized authorities saying, "Thank you for providing me with the full names and addresses of all wicked law enforcement authorities whom you want me to kill in the name of Islam."

Authorities say the home of Wheeler, the father of a county deputy, showed signs of a struggle with a suspect. They described the crime scene as a brutal one with the victim being stabbed multiple times.

Police say they first became suspicious of Fakhir because she gave them a fake name when they tried to question her. They later found out she was wanted for violating her probation.

A county magistrate recommended the case be sent to a grand jury for a possible indictment.
