Carjacking suspect kills himself at Garland apartments

A carjacking suspect shot and killed himself at a Garland apartment complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the incident began when U.S. Marshals tried to arrest the suspect at a location near Interstate 30 and Broadway Commons in Garland, but he tried to get away.

The suspect took off, carjacked a driver and made a brief getaway to a Valero gas station near I-30 and Lake Hubbard Parkway. From there, the suspect ran into a nearby apartment complex.

When officers closed in on the suspect, he shot himself.

No officers were injured in the incident. The condition of the driver who was carjacked is unknown.
