Carrollton ISD lockdown lifted after suspect search

Posted: Updated:
CARROLLTON, Texas -

Four Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District schools were locked down before noon Friday as police searched for a man with a gun in a nearby neighborhood.

The homeowner told Carrollton police she was in the den of her house when the man kicked in the gate.

"He walked up to my porch and had a gun in his hand," said Kristen Michelle Morgan.

But her four pound toy Yorkie and 10 pound Maltese chased the suspect away - across her front lawn and across the street over a neighbors fence.

Officers searched on the ground and with a helicopter for about an hour, but didn't find the suspect.

The school district said some students were on the R.L. Turner High campus Friday for summer school. It was on lockdown during the search.

McLaughlin-Strickland Elementary, Central Elementary and Perry Middle School were also locked down. Only staff and a few students registering for classes are on those campuses.
