Dallas police hope one key feature will help them identify a murder victim found in a shallow grave last week.
Police say a city worker found the body of an unknown man in
a field on Persimmons Road in East Oak Cliff last Friday afternoon.
The medical examiner said the body had been in the grave up to three weeks and was too badly decomposed to identify the victim. But, an old injury could be the missing clue say police.
"He had three large lacerations on the back of his head, and each laceration had anywhere from 8-12 staples, medical staples put in," said Sr. Cpl. Scott Sayers. "So obviously we looked at this as something that was pre-existing. Something that happened probably within a week or 10 days."
Police believe the man was white or possibly Hispanic and in his late 20s or early 30s.
People with information are asked to call Dallas police at 214-671-3584.
