Posted: Updated:

A brand new company works on tending bees and harvesting honey.  It's an unusual effort between a businessman from the northern suburbs and seven guys from one of the toughest neighborhoods in Dallas.

This is the first harvest for a new honey company.  It all started when businessman Nathan Sheets when to a Bible study with guys who were struggling to find jobs and make a living.  Sheets says he started the company about 4 months ago, buying 30 hives… and the Bonton Honey Company was born.

"There's nothing like doing something you love," Says Darin Lee. They say if you do something you love you'll never work a day in your life." Lee has struggled with finding work after trouble with the law he met Nathan Sheets through that Bible study in his Dallas neighborhood a tough place called Bonton.

There are seven guys on the Bonton team, but they're not employees and they don't get paid.  Sheets made them a deal that if they put in the work, he'll put in the money.  After two years, Sheets says the company will belong to those men.

To them, the hives don't represent bees, but changed lives.
