Posted: Updated:
FORT WORTH, Texas -

Fort Worth officers shot at a female suspect who allegedly pointed a gun at them.

Police said the shooting happened Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Carnival grocery store on 28th and Main streets.

Officers had tried to pull the woman over during a traffic stop on Interstate 35. She didn't stop and a chase ensued, police said.

Police said the suspect got off the interstate, hit another car near the intersection 28th Street and Deen Road and then she and her male passenger tried to flee on foot in the store parking lot.

The woman allegedly got out of the car with a gun. Police chased her and something happened to make them shoot her.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

No officers were hurt.

Officers arrested the male passenger in the parking lot.

Police are now checking to see if the car was stolen or if there was some other reason the couple tried to run.
