Sammy Hagar joins art campaign helping families of Chicago firefighters

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Remember Chicago's famous "Cows on Parade" almost 15 years ago? Well, next month you'll be seeing a new public art exhibit around the city featuring 5-foot high fiberglass fire hydrants.

Each uniquely designed fireplug supports the 100 Club, helping the families of Chicago's firefighters and police.

Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, who is in town for a concert Friday night at Northerly Island, has joined in, commissioning an album cover artist to design an island-themed hydrant. The tiki motif goes with Hagar's latest venture, his Beach Bar Rum.

FOX 32's Bob talked with the rock and roll Hall of Famer about the Great Chicago Fire Hydrant Public Art Campaign, plus his thoughts on a Van Halen reunion and why he is the master of the tequila world.
