Firefighters battle flames at Gwinnett County home

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Firefighters battled a blaze at a Gwinnett County home on Thursday.

Crews rushed to the house on Stancil Point Drive just after 7:30 p.m. when neighbors saw smoke pouring from the home in the midst of a rainstorm.

"There was an intense thunderstorm moving through the area at that time," said Captain Tommy Rutledge of Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. "Firefighters were coming back from another call right around the corner, arrived very quickly. There was heavy smoke coming from the house. Crews made immediate entry and found an intense fire on the back of the house."

While it was initially feared that blaze was caused by a lightning strike, it was later determined to be an electrical fire.
