HAZEL PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say an 11-month-old boy was discovered in the front seat of his mother's car following a high speed pursuit and foot chase through southern Oakland County.

Hazel Park Police Chief Martin Barner says officers were attempting to pull over a silver Ford Focus with expired plates Tuesday afternoon when the driver sped off down residential streets. Barner says the driver reached speeds of 70 mph before crashing through a fence in the 20000 block of Spencer.

The driver, later identified as Latanya Hall, fled on foot. Officers eventually caught up to and used a Taser to apprehend Hall.

Upon inspection, Hall's 11-year-old month son was found unharmed in the Focus' front seat with his seatbelt on. He was turned over to a family member. Police also discovered marijuana in the vehicle.

The 31-year-old Detroit resident is charged with fleeing and eluding and possession of marijuana. She faces up to five years in prison.
