Police search for Queens rapist

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The NYPD is looking for the suspect that raped and robbed a woman in Queens early Friday morning.

Authorities say the 52-year-old victim was leaving the R train at 63rd Drive and Queens Boulevard station in the Rego Park section when the suspect started to ask for her name. The victim didn’t give the suspect her name and stepped inside the Rite Aid near the station.

Police say the suspect followed her inside the store and began to harass her before leaving the store. When the victim left the store the suspect was waiting outside for her and followed her as she walked in front of 63-45 Saunders Street.

The suspect then grabbed her, threw the victim down a flight of stairs and raped her. Police say the suspect stole the victim’s cell phone and purse.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police describe the victim as a Black man in his 20’s, 5'7" tall with a mustache. The suspect told the victim his name was Junior. The NYPD released a video surveillance of the suspect entering the Rite Aid.

Anyone with information in regards to this rape is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

The U.S. Open is underway in Queens and there's no denying that many of the players, both men and women, are in great physical shape and know how to play that up. Women are particularly promoted in the industry as attractive, fashionable and fiercely competitive. Does that help the game and draw more people in?
