Teen paralyzed while saving others in shooting rampage

Posted: Updated:

A teenager who lost his mother during a shooting in DeSoto saved the lives of two relatives.

DeSoto police said 13-year-old Chris White was shot by Erbie Bowser earlier this month. Bowser is also accused of killing Chris' older sister and mother, who was Bowser's estranged wife.

Relatives said Bowser could have killed more if the teen hadn't taken action.

"He aimed a gun at my little brother Myles and my nephew Cohlin, but Chris stepped in the way, pushed Myles out the way and forced the shooter to shoot him. He pushed my nephew in the corner so that way he wouldn't leave the closet," said Glenn Till, Chris' older brother.

Eleven-year-old Myles was treated for a gunshot wound. Three-year-old Cohlin was not hurt. But Chris is still in the hospital.

The straight-A student who loved dancing and basketball is paralyzed from the waist down. Family and friends are praying that he'll one day walk again.

Dallas police said Bowser killed two people and wounded two others at another home before going to DeSoto. He is charged with murder and injury to a child.
