Free gas on national Take Back Your Banking Day

Posted: Updated:
COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

Employees from Community & Southern Bank and Family Savings Credit Union will be pumping $20 in free gas to the first 200 people at two local Atlanta-area gas stations.

The event is part of national Take Back Your Banking Day and goes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Each year a local community bank and credit union join with the national effort to highlight their banking offerings as compared to those at the much larger banking chains.

Event sponsors hope to raise awareness around how local community banks and credit unions help to fuel local economies and encourage Atlanta residents to consider choosing a smaller, local bank.

While Community & Southern employees are pumping gas, they'll be talking to local residents about why they should consider banking with a community bank or credit union.

Community & Southern and Family Savings Credit Union are joining nearly 40 other community banks and credit unions across the country to simultaneously take over gas stations across the country. Other participating cities include: Dallas, Phoenix, St. Paul and Portland, OR.

Here are the gas locations:

- RaceTrac: 749 South Marietta Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060
- RaceTrac: 2550 Spring Road, Smyrna, GA 30080

Ten time Ironman, Dave Nazaroff recently rode 900 miles on his bicycle...from Nyack, New York...to Georgia. He didn't do it to get in shape, or to win a competition; he did it to raise money for a 11 year old Callie Truelove in Gainesville, Georgia.
