Posted: Updated:

Two veteran Benbrook police officers have resigned after a hit and run crash in Fort Worth early Saturday morning.

Benbrook police identify the two officers as former patrol Sgt. Chad Peabody and former Det. Jason Montgomery.

Fort Worth police said in a statement a 2006 red Dodge pickup truck collided with a 2012 Lincoln SUV at Ridgmar Boulevard and I-30 in West Fort Worth.

Police said the driver and a passenger abandoned the pickup and left the scene.

Benbrook police chief James Mills said he was notified about the crash and the next day, two officers resigned.

No one has been charged yet in the Fort Worth hit and run. Both departments said they won't discuss details of the case until the investigations are completed.
