Feds raid western store because of product labels

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

A popular western wear business with stores in Weatherford and Fort Worth was briefly shut down because of a federal investigation of the labels on some of its products.

Agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations raided Teskey's Saddle Shop in Weatherford off Interstate 20 Wednesday afternoon. The store in Fort Worth was also closed as agents executed a search warrant.

Although the government spokesman declined to comment on the details of the investigation, the stores' owners said the agents were looking into the fact that some products in the store are not labeled as products of Mexico.

Federal law requires all imported goods be marked with the country of origin. The store could face a fine as high as $100,000 for a violation.

Both Teskey's stores reportedly opened for business on Thursday.
