Ted Nugent's wife says she forgot she had gun at DFW Airport

Posted: Updated:

The wife of rocker Ted Nugent said she forgot a gun was in her carry-on bag when she was arrested by DFW Airport police on Thursday.

Shemane Ann Nugent was detained by airport police at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday when TSA screeners ID'd a possible firearm in her bag at a checkpoint in Terminal D.

DFW Airport police arrived on the scene and asked Nugent if the bag was hers and she said yes.

"I know what the problem is. I forgot the gun was in the bag," Nugent said, according to a DFW Airport police report. Nugent has a Texas Concealed Handgun License, but it is illegal to bring a weapon into the secure area of an airport.

A Smith & Wesson 38 Special revolver was found in the bag and was loaded with five rounds of ammo and 10 rounds in a side pocket.

Nugent told police said she carries a gun because she has received death threats.

The Nugent's have been married since 1989 and have had one child together.
