Everyone is safe after a 3-Alarm duplex fire

Posted: Updated:

Residents on one side of a duplex are safe tonight thanks to a Good Samaritan.  Fire investigators say around 4:30 Saturday afternoon, several people called 911 about an explosion at the duplex.  Firefighters arrived at the 4600 block of Sausalito and found two duplexes on fire, one with flames coming from the roof.

While they were inside fighting the flames, firefighters were trapped by a large burst, known as a "Flash".  One fire fighter was taken to a hospital for a cut finger, no one else was injured.  A neighbor helped two men get out of the house; one of them didn't even realize his home was on fire.  Investigators are now trying to find a cause of the fire.
