Facebook COO's new book calls for '50/50' housework split

ATLANTA -

A key component of marriage is that husbands and wives are supposed to share everything, right? So, why is the wife often the one left holding the broom?

Recently, a leading lady in the Tech world spoke out about  the benefits she's seen in sharing the housework with her husband. Facebook's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg says that going ‘50/50' with her husband, David Goldberg, has been 100 percent beneficial for not only themselves, but for their entire family.

'In many cases, getting to 50/50 is not just the fair thing to do, but the better thing to do for a family,' writes Sheryl, 44, in the foreword to a new book, Getting to 50/50: How Working Parents Can Have It All.

Sheryl admits that it takes work to retain that "perfect equality," but says the added balance it gives to their marriage and positive role model it creates for their children is worth it.
