SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Some Scottsdale residents were able to catch some burglars in the act using their home security system on Monday.

A man and woman entered the victim's home near Hayden and Thompson Peak Parkway about 4:45 p.m. and began burglarizing it. The victims were alerted to the break-in by their security system and called police.

When officers arrived, the suspects refused to come out of the house, resulting in an hours-long standoff with Scottsdale officers.

About 10:30 p.m., after hours of negotiating, Steven Hancock and Denise Gonzales surrendered to police.

They were booked into jail on various charges including burglary and warrants.
